7 Things Your Wedding Guests Wish They Could Tell You
Here's what your wedding guests won't tell you about dessert.
But I will.
1)
If dinner is plated (seated dinner), they want cake to be brought to the table by waitstaff.
-guests get accustomed to routine
- if a staff member placed the dinner plate in front of them, cake should be the same
2)
Guests love mini pastries, mini desserts or small cupcakes.
-mini pastries and mini desserts seem like less of a commitment
-you know how you can eat 3 sliders but you'd never eat 3 pieces of cake? Same idea!
-mini desserts allow your guests to mingle and dance. No commitment to a plate and fork is needed
-mini desserts are portable: fitting perfectly in a car-cup-holder for the ride home Don't skimp.
3)
Guests don't want to miss out because they weren't "fast enough" eating dessert.
-just may not "think" guests are going to eat dessert -- that's no reason to skimp.
-what if the guest DO eat the delicious desserts and you run out?
-this is a bad look for you/the bake/venue, and your Aunt Mildred WILL be complaining at table 11
4)
YOU don't want to hear this: there's food waste at a wedding. There's no getting around it.
-You just don't "see" most of the food waste at your event.
5)
Takeout boxes are ideal and always appreciated.
-after cocktail hour and dinner you often look at the cake and think "I'd love to nosh on that in an hour" but often they whisk that plate into the trash before you're hungry again.
-cupcakes and mini desserts are easy to pack to-go, Chinese takeout containers are my favorite to-go packaging
6)
Guests LOVE that your dessert flavor choices are personal. Just not too personal.
-your cake, desserts or cupcakes should be your favorite flavors and this helps your guests get to know you
-if you get wild with flavors, consider ONE plain-Jane as an option! Put the dessert, cupcake table front and center. -desserts that are hidden in another room (ie: not visible) will lead to waste because no one will find it.
7)
Guests LOVE to know what’s going on next.
-there’s no roadmap for your wedding day event, keep your guests up to speed as to what’s going on by announcing every aspect of the day
PRO TIP- if your cupcakes or desserts are self-serve: have your DJ, emcee or band announce when it's time for dessert
