Lauren and Joe’s Southeastern Massachusetts barn wedding is just that. Whether you call it rustic, DIY, shabby chic, vintage. Barn on Benson’s Pond and the converted barn on the property was the perfect backdrop for their absolutely lovely day!

As their wedding photographers we had the sweetest view of their love and the excitement behind the scenes as they planned their big day. Their wedding at Barn on Benson’s Pond was truly magical and every moment was better than the last. We started off their day with incredible details of their flowers, rings, invites, vow books, and more, setting the tone for the day and followed it with capturing the last details of them getting ready and prepped for their first look!
The fun really started once they locked eyes and seeing how happy they were to be together, their first look photos were a DREAM and every photo after was truly amazing. We are so excited to have worked closely with Lauren and Joe and Artisan Bake Shop to capture every moment of this beautiful day. The Barn on Benson’s Pond offers a rustic backdrop with all the working Massachusetts farm feels for a wedding day that is relaxed and filled with fellowship.
Lauren and Joe’s Romantic Color Palette offset the rustic barn details at Benson’s Pond. Red and blush pink are often associated with love and romance, making this color palette an ideal choice for their day.
A timeless combination of loose, organic greenery along with red tulips and white daisies dotted the tables in antique amber bottles and containers. A red gauzy runner trailed on the tables along with puddles of greenery and ferns dispersed in pretty bunches amongst the wooden farm tables were a classic detail that wasn’t too busy. Rose hips and hypericum berries can be seen in their floral arrangement and they give a nod to the fact that their wedding venue is a working Cranberry Farm and part of the Ocean Spray cooperative!
Vintage Barn details were also a big part of Lauren and Joe’s day!
Their invitation featured a wooden planked elegant barn and their signage features wooden boards hand lettered with beautiful calligraphy. We love the addition of string lights on the invitation- it speaks to the string lights throughout the Barn, both inside and outside on the patio.
Love is Sweet. Please Take a Seat!
Not quite an elopement, but the Barn held 50 of Lauren and Joe’s closest friends and family. Their Intimate Wedding was the perfect size! There was plenty of space for guests to mingle and chat without feeling crowded. This is especially perfect when you think about having a portable dessert like cookies to accompany a wedding cake! Chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal were their choice. And — cookies also make great wedding favors, too! What is better than dancing the night away with a cookie in one hand and a drink in the other!?
A crown of greenery wrapped Lauren and Joe’s cake: a nod to the gardens and lush green fields surrounding the Barn.
We created a buttercream frosted cake. Fresh herbs: sage, rosemary, thyme and lavender wrapped the tiers. The textured buttercream frosting is called “ruched” this frosting style mimics fabric and is both elegant and refined. Textured buttercream allows for a cake that is beautiful but also delicious and inviting, you could say that it looks so good that you can't wait to dig in! Not only a feast for the eyes, but also a feast for the taste buds as Lauren and Joe chose Carrot Cake! We create a moist and decadent carrot cake! Carrots, crushed pineapple and coconut are folded into a spice cake batter. Not only do you get the sweet and savory flavors from the carrots but the cinnamon and ginger create a warmth that is perfect for a Fall Barn Wedding.
Emphasizing the taste and texture of the cake is a cream cheese buttercream filling. Smooth, sweet and slightly tangy, cream cheese buttercream filling is the perfect foil to the decadent carrot cake layers. Lauren and Joe’s wedding cake was a dessert that was meant to be enjoyed and savored, not just admired from afar.
The interior of the cake featured four layers of carrot cake and three layers of cream cheese buttercream filling. Portions were incredibly generous and are the perfect end to a beautiful day!
After dessert, guests meandered to the sprawling grounds at the Barn to enjoy lawn games like Jenga and Cornhole! Besides lawn games the Barn on Benson’s pond features cozy fire pits that keep you warm on a cool Fall evening in New England.
