When Zola came calling and asked for my insights as a Top Wedding Professional, I was thrilled to share my experiences.

Here are the Top Cake and Dessert Trends for 2025 - 2026 Weddings

What trends are you seeing in 2025 and 2026?

  • Timeless details are back! Pearls. Vintage Piping (circa 1960). Fresh local flowers. These details are back and I’m here for all of it!

What wedding dessert (i.e. cake, cupcakes, donuts, other treats…) trends do you predict for 2025?

  • I see interactive desserts and cake alternatives on trend for 2025! You know those champagne walls? I predict cookie walls, cinnamon bun walls, mini pie walls. These interactive desserts are petite and allow guests to mingle and dance while still indulging in something sweet! Trending in our bake shop are baked treats in the shape of a cake. We are seeing giant cinnamon bun cakes stacked three tiers tall! We are seeing chocolate chip cookie layer cakes. And we are seeing a resurgence of my personal favorite-- wedding pies!

What are the most popular cake flavors?

  • The most popular flavors are those that bring back memories for our couples. One that comes to mind is confetti cake (sprinkles studded in the vanilla cake batter) with a cake batter flavor buttercream that tastes like the dip from Dunk-a-Roos! Seasonal flavors are also always on trend! Summertime weddings bring champagne cake strawberries and also vanilla bean cake cake with tart lemon curd and raspberry preserves. Fall wedding cake favorites include flavors with warm spices like pumpkin with chai cream cheese. Wintertime wedding flavors harken back to childhood favorites like chocolate with vanilla buttercream, or vanilla cake with oreo and coffee milk buttercream.

What wedding cake trend do couples love, but you absolutely hate? Why?

  • Couples love to believe that no one eats the cake. And, I will agree that no one eats the cake when the taste is mediocre. Guests will devour cake, cupcakes and desserts that have bold flavors and are made with high-quality ingredients. Instead of skimping on dessert: instead choose a dessert that has been thoughtfully baked with incredible flavors.
